Lower Shock Mount
Hi I drive a 95 Cherokee Sport (4dr 4.0l) and the metal tab at the bottem of the front right shock that is welded to the axle housing snapped off. I already replaced the lower controll arm tabs (they are directly below the shock tab that just broke off) because they rotted off on the right side also, but for some reason all the tabs on the left look great.
So the two questions
1.) Anybody know why all the mounts/tabs on the right are rusted and rotted and the one on the left are fine?
2.) How do i go about finding another one of those tabs so I can get it welded on and be on my way?
Thanks in advanced for any info you guys can give me.

its probably just a coincidence that one side rusted before the other maybe one side was sitting in grass and got more wet who knows as for fixing it any of the fab websites have tone of options for shock brackets A1racer just did a writeup on swapping front shock mounts for ones that dont use a bar pin you can these brackets for only a couple of dollars and you will have a much wider variety of shocks to choose from also heres the post https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f58/front-lower-shock-mount-18337/

you'd have to send pictures.... the shock mount on the front axle is also part of the coil spring "perch" how does it just snap off??
how does that just break off???? or have i just not been doing generall lee jumps enough or sumtin, i understand that it was rusted but if it was rusted that bad then that jeep had to have looked rusted ugly

I don't think mine looks like that. Mine was just a metal tab welded onto the axle housing i think. I get out of work in a couple hours and I'll snap a few pictures for you guys.
Thanks

My theory on why the right side is rusty when the left side is not has to do with driving.
My XJ and 4Runner are both the same way. One day when going around someone who was turning left it dawned on me- I went around them on the shoulder. Something I would not do in my car due to clearance/tire issues- but don't think twice about it in a 4X4. Shoulder was a bit muddy. Mud=water=rust. Only on the two wheels that leave the pavement...
Just my thoughts.
Doesn't sound like a stock setup, my 95 looks pretty much exactly like the picture posted, although my shocks are prettier (and the rest rustier).
