Get a mechanical guage and see what its actualy carrying. Mine carries around 10psi at an idle when it warms up. It has 250k the one with 160k only cares 7 at idle after warm.
They both start with around 70psi at idle.

low oil pressure
I am in the process of buying a 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Every time I come to a stop after driving for a little while and the car is idling, the oil pressure guage drops down to zero and the check guages light comes on. I took it to a mechanic and he said the oil tube coming off the oil pan was clogged. I think this is also known as a oil pickup tube. He cleaned this tube and everything is back to normal. The previous owner has been driving it like this for 4 years. The engine runs smooth and there is no noise coming from it. Should I be concerned about engine damage from this tube being clogged?

X2 on the mechanical gauge check and be sure mine usually starts at 40 psi when cold and about 20-30 warm not sure exactly what it should be but i would say as long as it around those number you should be fine

You should drop the transmision cross member and lower the tail of the trans. this will give you more room, and a straight shot to the e-torx bolts. Also lots of extensions so you can move the ratchet behind the transfercase...
