i put 32s on my XJ and now im pulling 1800 rpms going 35 mph haha i needa get 4.10 but idk how much it will cost me total for a chysler 8.25 rear and dana 30 front, cost of kit and anything else id need plus getting it installing professionally.


any brand of 4.10 gears that you guys recommend? or 4.56 gears? i truly dont know anything about gears but im learning as i go along.

Good question, I need to know this too! I have 235 tires but still, might as well do the gearing now before lift and all that good stuff... right?

yeah im went through half a tank in 78 miles =( it might cost alot up front but will save me over time at the pump and i drive mostly city to get to school and im hitting hit rpms going 25-35

Yea I'm sure if I regeared I would be getting better mileage too, although I already do pretty well, 235's are that dramatically different from the stock 225's. But I', planning on a 2 inch lift and a locker so I might as well look into this too! Hopefully someone can help explain

Have you tried looking at kits? Google search and look at a bunch of vendors.

I'm sure you aren't the first people who wanna do a regear.

Just to clarify the stock front on a cherokee is a dana 30? And what is the rear? Would it even be possible or make sense to regear my stock setup?

Most Cherokee's had a HP D30 for the front.

Then for the rear its a D44, D35, or Chyrsler 8.25

D44 and the 8.25 are the more desirable rears, esp if the 8.25 is the 29 spline count axle.

Awesome! Thank you for the pics! I do have larger tires, hence my interest in the re gearing. My car isn't gutless enough for me to need one that badly, but maybe it is, I've never driven a stock cherokee before...

superior gears are good quality, you can get both front and rear with master install kits for around 600$. i made a thread about gearing compared to tire size...https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f59/ge...e-chart-67989/ ... it gives you a better idea on what gears to buy and where your gonna be in your power band with them...install will vary, im guessing around 2-300$ for both.

no your fine with 235's you shouldnt feel any difference unless somethings wrong, you can get away with 31s and not regearing, ive got 33's with 3.55's and its not bad at all, definitely a little sluggish compared to stock but its defiinitely not driveable on the freeway or anything, if you regeared with 235s you would be worse off, you would be doing like 3500 rpm at 60, unless its a manual then it will be a little different
