Default Loud Clunk or Thump taking off from light

Was curious if this was a result of bad driving or if a joint in the rear driveshaft is bad. This happens on and off and only to get going from a dead stop, wondering whats back there that could cause that

You need to lube up the slip yoke coming out of your transfer case. I just did mine and the problem went away. You'll need to take off the rear drive shaft AND BE VERY CAREFUL taking off the rear yokes strap bolts. .. Seriously they are really tiny and I recently broke one causing a huge headache.

Pop the ds off and lube up with some anti seize.

problem solved!

When I had this problem it was because i had a fried u joint. Check the driveshaft for play and if you find play then chances are you fried a ujoint.

It shouldn't twist or move try to shake it and if you see any movement bad joint. And yes be very careful bout those 10 mm bolts break one and you'll be sorry lol

Before pulling the rear drive shaft mark the drive shaft and differential yokes so the drive shaft can go back on in the same place (vibes if not).

Use new bolts and girdles for the rear U-joint. Kits are available at the auto parts stores. Torque these bolts to 14 ft./lbs.

Use cable tie to replace the metal strap holding the TC dust boot on.

If you haven't pulled the driveshaft before on it spray those 8mm bolts down with pb blaster of some type of penetrating oil to reduce the risk of shearing off a bolt.

If I'm not mistaken those bolts have a 5/16" hex head.

Clunking also could be a bad motor/trans mount. Or the exhaust hitting the crossmember (which is the cause of mine), but definitely start with lubing the slip yoke.

I've had the same issue for a while now, while I was changing the trans fluid I noticed the trans mount was shot, I'm guessing that's the issue with mine, trying to get it done this weekend
