Looked at my Oil Pressure Sending Unit, and found a mystery

Default Looked at my Oil Pressure Sending Unit, and found a mystery

So, after changing my oil, i looked at my OPSU (i figured something was out of wack, because the gauge is pegged all the way to the 3 o'clock position)

i found the following. The circled object is the sending unit, right? it is not plugged into anything. i also found a wire nearby that is also not plugged into anything, but they do not appear to mate with each other. Is there a part missing between them, or are they unrelated?

The connector looks like the one for the sending unit. The thing you have circled is the fitting the sending unit screws into. The sending unit looks like this:



It looks like your oil pressure sending unit may have been broken off.


All connected together it should look like this:

Common issue, douchenozzles that don't know how to properly change an oil filter bust them off all the time.

Ah, another advantage of a "long" oil filter.....the end of the filter is farther from the OPSU....less chance of bumping/breaking it.

so, (when i have a new sending unit, i assume), i need to try and unscrew that brass colored bit from the hexagon shaped thing, then screw in the new sender and plug it in?
