Long arm vs. short arm..
Im planning on lifting the XJ soon and I don't really know the difference between long arm and short arm. Whats the pros and cons of both setups? I'm either going to do a 4.5 or 6.5 I haven't decided

Long arms = more flex, better ride quality, mount near the transfer case crossmember, gives you much better control arm angles.
short arms = regular control arms that mount in the factory location, often used with drop brackets that are a cheap alternative to long arms
I'd go long arms, do it once and get it over with.

For up to 3.5", short arm is fine. For over that, I'd start looking at long arms. At 4.5" inch you can opt for control arm drop brackets to realign your control arms and reduce the rough ride. But at 6.5" I would definitely be buying long arms.
