Default leaks radiator fluid from bottom hose entry

So my xj is pretty solid no issues runs right and sounds good, but one thing. It just randomly starts to spew coolant from the bottom hose entry (the one that connects to the block). Sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. I always have to buy coolant because of this issue. I have just put in new hoses, and thermostat as well. no leak and I made sure all the connectors to the hoses were tight on. Any help?

You need to remove the hose and check it , if it is ok clean and maybe use a little sealant on the hose .

could be a small crack in rad near the hose fitting. move hose by hand to see if any leak shows.

Pull the hose and make sure the hose has a clean surface to seal against. Too much dirt and scale will keep the hose from sealing 100%. Tightening the clamp doesnt always help, either. While you are there, inspect the waterpump itself for any cracks, and double check around the waterpump and thermostat gasket to be sure they are not the cause.

I just went though a similar thing on my daughter's Lexus. It developed an occasional leak where the lower rad hose met the engine. The hoses had been been replaced by a shop a few years ago and they did away with the OEM spring type clamps in favor of standard hose clamps...which looked to have been severely over tightened. I installed new hoses and OEM clamps and it has been leak free for about a week and a half now.

My '00 XJ uses the same type of spring clamps. If you don't have those, I would get a set and go from there.

It's most likely leaking from the water pump weap hole. See cruiser54's pic

New belts should be in the 180-200ft-lbs range. I use a Krikit II tension gauge (Gates part #91132). Used belts are closer to 160. Keep the belt clean and dry. No dressings and no coolant. If it still squeals after all that, remove the belt and check every pulley. They should all spin freely. For example, a failed alternator bearing can sound like a slipping belt.
