knocking sound from bellhousing?

I'm pretty sure this is what's wrong with mine. If the bolts are hitting something, won't they be all banged up? Should I anticipate replacing them?

well i had a similar sound from same spot, it ended up being the spacer plate between the engine and trans being bent and the torque converter bolts were hitting the spacer where it goit distorted. it drove me nuts and took dropping the trans 3 times before i figured it out.
