Default Jeep won't restart when engine is hot

So this evening, I drove for about 20 mins and then parked for 5 mins. When I came back and tried to start, the engine would not start at all. The battery was fine (even tried jumping it with no success), there was no clicking when turning the key for ignition. I left the vehicle for an hour and it started fine when I tried again. After I brought it home, I had a similar experience.

My neighbor who was a mechanic says it may be the starter motor or contacts on the ignition cylinder. Any other ideas or anyone with a similar experience?

Try starting it in neutral. If it starts, it's the NSS.

I should add that I have a manual transmission.

Well, my advice seems a little less relevant now. Lol.

You still have a NSS at the bottom of the back of the clutch pedal

X3 on the NSS. Here is a link on how to rebuild it if thats the problem. It can also be the starter/solonoid is going bad so next time it does it wack the starter with a hammer and see if that works...Tj

This is the common symptom of a failing crank position sensor, temp sensor etc.... try playing with things in the engine making sure things are secured and connected like your injectors, sensors etc.

Good luck>!
