Default Jeep mystery

So the other day my jeep going up the hill on paved road started sounding like one of my cylinders weren't firing then all of a sudden died and could not get it back started. Keep in mind my jeep started ticking a little at idle but not all the time.

Now today the jeep started after a jump and drive it around and sounded and drove like nothing happened .... im confused

I checked my injectors and every single one is firing correctly MAF is good..

Any thoughts ? Thanks

Start out by checking the charging system.

When you say it wouldn't start, did it crank or not? If it didn't crank, probably a bad connection (battery terminal, ground, etc). If it did crank, could be many things: CPS, fuel pump...

When my CPS started going south the symptoms mimicked running out of gas. Some sputtering, hesitation, then it shut off and wouldn't start. Sometimes, if I let it sit for a while it would start again but it wouldn't last long.

I recommend you take a look at Cruiser54's Renix tips. Start with step #7 but I highly recommend you make a point to systematically do everything on that list. Especially the C101 connector and grounds.

Only the 84 to 86 XJ came with a carb. 87 and on were fuel injected. The original poster stated he checked the INJECTORS.
