Jeep Electrical Oddities
First time posting after search. I am the 6th owner of a box stock '96 with 270k miles.
Since I have owned it there is an idiot light that comes on only under light throttle in lower gears. It is orange and looks like the outline of a house or an arrow pointing up. Can't find it in the manuals. Next is a small aluminum can that looks like a turn signal switch. It was attached under the dash, left of the steering column. Has three wires attached to it, red, yellow, and yellow with red stripe. This thing is always hot and I am a little concerned it.
Thanks

Manual trans I'm guessing? Find the diagram for the upshift indicator and check the ground circuit. From there, Check and see what the other wires to that can are for if that's the "module" for the upshift. Guessing would state a signal and power.
For the best answer, what kind of transmission does the vehicle have? 2wd or 4wd?

Operators manual long gone, I am 6th owner. I can live with an inop upshift light. The aluminum can being hot bothers me. I have searched several online wiring diagrams and can not find it or that combination of wire colors.
