Default Instrument Cluster

I would like to swap out my instrument cluster for one that has a tac as I have a stick shift XJ. I'm guessing that it will work as likely the factory wires for either and just plugs in what option they want but does anyone know for sure? Appreciate the help.

Never mind. I was reading some threads and saw someone mention that this had been covered. Did the search thingy and sure nuf. My bad. Won't happen again.

Just make sure you use year correct when you swap.

I hope a 96 cluster will work in a 94. Already bought one.

No reason I could see why it wouldn't, unless the electronics or wiring are different, but probably not. As long as they have the same design shape and connectors on the back, should plug 'n play.

I got rid of the idiot lights in my '93 with a '95 cluster and it works perfectly, aside from the temp gauge, but I have an Autometer installed between the cluster and radio where a clock could be.

One thing you'll wanna do is take the new one to a shop that can do it and have them match your odometer, otherwise you'll need to have the paperwork state the miles are not correct and possibly say what they really are, but that part I'm not sure about.

Your gonna need the senders for a 94 with gauges to complete the swap. Not sure if 96 works on 94. 96 is a messed up year for the xj.
