Default Installing hitch without nut strip

So I've got this entire week off for prom and I want to get my hitch on.

Do I have to buy the nut strips like the ones from jcr? Because if I do, the hitch isn't gonna make it on this week

I'd say you don't need the nut strip 100%. But you'll need nuts, washers, and a whole lot of patience to get it all lined up. Then a method to stop the nut spinning, maybe a long thin strip of steel to act as a spanner. Removing the bumper will help.

I've pulled metal down the frame rails to act as nut strips, worked out good.

with just nuts and washer i would not use it for any hard pulls ,the nut strips make it much stronger jm2cw

So just look for a xj with a hitch and it'll have it?

I'm assuming you have to remove the bumper to get them.

How do you supposed I get the rivet out at the junkyard? Hand tools only.

And what's the deal with the exhaust bracket?

You are awesome. Thanks for the pictures.

I'm assuming I should replace the hardware?
