IF you temp. is over 210
My jeep was running hot all the time 210. I changed everything in the system and it was still 210+. I finally blew head plug, removed head to fix and found head full of sludge. Then discovered It was not getting oil to top of head doe to sludge, and a plugged oil pump. Cleaned pump, and ports then put jeep on 12 week 1/4 bottle 3 wk. seafoam treatment this is were you drive it for 3 wk. or 300mi. with ever comes first and change oil, filter and
repeat and now she never passes 210. hangs in the 150 - 210 range 90% of time. not 210 +

mine is running REALLY cold.... like today it was at around 120-140. And i have an aftermarket gauge so i know its right.....how can i tell if the coolant flow thing (i know it has a name, but its late and my brains not working right lol) is stuck open? I have the 4 banger and overheating isnt really a problem since the 4.0 and 2.5 share the same radiator (or if not they're about the same size) im talking this thing stays at around 100-120 if i have the heat on......thinking the oil needs to be hotter to be at proper lubricating power

its still like 80 degrees down here lol, but when it was colder a few weeks ago she stayed around 200 or so.....not sure why. Maybe my gauge has went all to hell from all the wiring ive done and had to disconnect and reconnect it so many times lol

make sure you have a thermostat in it or it won't warm up and you won't get any significant heat out of the heater if it gets cold where you're at.

if 185 is overheating (boiling point of H2O is 212 without antifreeze) then my 210 with a new aluminum rad, triple threat fans and shrouds, high volume water pump, high flow water neck and balanced thermostat must be blowing my motor. Damn thing runs pretty good for a blown engine.
Sludged engine sounds like irregular services, plug blown on head? Probably not put in right to begin with or was not high enough mix of antifreeze and it was starting to corrode.
But after building stock cars and drag cars for 20+ years as well as working on cars in the shop I may not know a damn thing and what's worked for fuel injected jeeps for, oh, say, roughly 22 or more years may be wrong.
