IAC idle air control valve won't come apart
my 92 cherokee has been idling low at start up and somestimes stalling out. most likely because I ran it out of gas and its been real cold out. i put some dry gas in the tank but i figured I would clean the tb because its a 18 yr old jeep and who knows if it was ever cleaned. every thing was going good except the IAC wont come apart. should I just put a little more force on it or is there something im missing?
I cleaned the tb really well and it needed it but the housing for the iac wont seperate from the plunger. any advise ?

From what I understand, that black part does not come apart. You just use some kind of carb cleaner to clean the inside and or body portion. If in doubt, just buy a new one! They are only 40 or 50 bucks! Good Luck!!

instal the silver part in a bench vise and beat the crap out of it, or soak it in a penetrating oil to break the bond loose. I am surprised you were able to get the silver part off since those are safety torx bolts.
But LCFRJEEP, the black part does not come apart. but it should come out of the silver piece since that is an actual part on the throttle body

lol thats exactly what i did. I put it in the vise and "tapped" it with a BFH (didnt have a rubber mallet)
BUT i did have some nifty torx bits
before
and after

thanks guys!
unfortunately when i was replacing the breather hose i broke the pcv/ccv on the vavle cover. it looked like someone had tryed to sylcone the old one to seal it and it wasnt working anyway. im just gonna replace both of them.
thinking I should replace the leaking valve cover gasket as well if its not to hard. I'll do a search and see what i can find on here. im sure there is more than one write up on here already
