Default I need help to improve gas mileage...

I see a thread on here what is your gas mileage but would like some tips on what to do to improve my gas mileage, I am a mail carrier and I don't know if anything will help with all the start and stopping but even if I can improve it 2 or 3 mpg it would be worth it. My average now is 10 mpg. My Jeep is a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Limited ALL STOCK.

I replaced every fluid from front to back, replaced the spark plugs, found optimal air presure, and installed more efficient injectors. I went from 12ish to a reported 19.5 on the highway from the on board computer. It is a 2000 Sport with 27" tires.

for injectors, do a search on "Neon Injectors", they are 4 port instead of the older 1 port and atomize the fuel better.

"703" injectors
full tune up / fluid change
optimal air pressure, low rolling resistance tires
better flowing exhaust

o2 sensor (upstream) may not be operating at 100%. May be worth changing for a new one - GREATLY affects air/fuel mixture and gas mileage

IIRC, a 2000 would use the "784" injector.

Lose some weight if you can. If you have factory skids and don't wheel it, yank 'em. Trailer hitch and don't pull a trailer? Yank it.

I am a rural mail carrier I drive 60 miles a day on my route and stop and start around 450 times in a 5 hour period. I don't get much worse when I have it in 4 wheel drive all day.

The single most effective fuel-economy trick is to keep your foot out of the gas. Avoid jack rabbit starts, do 55 on the highway when everyone else is doing 70, coast when you approach a stoplight, don't idle the engine for too long. It'll lower your stress level too.

784 injector (Bosch 0280155784) is an upgrade (4 holes instead of 1 hole) for 2000-2001 cherokees that allows better atomization of fuel and better gas mileage / smoother running as a result.

They usually (but not always) can be found in the vehicles listed on this page:
