Default How remove steering wheel

89 jeep cherokee

I removed all the hidden screws that are under the second steering wheel cover. There is one piece, which is a line, that I need to remove to remove second steering wheel colon.

You need to remove the ignition switch that it loctated on the top left hand side of the column, if going farther in the column there are three more screws that hold the 2nd cover on the main cover. Be carfull to not break more tabs if so everything will be exposed and even more easier to hotwire and break the steering lock. Why are you tearing into the column so deep?

I broke the starter. My car was running and the key was stuck. So I forced the key and broke something. I'm trying to find the broken piece so I can fix it

It sounds almost like the tumbler broke maybe the ignition switch. Mostly tumbler is what really pops up.

Now that the piece(what ever it is) is broke. The key turns freely. The only problem is the car won't turn off

I don't know what the actual name is. It's a cover that's concealing something I need to fix

Column. Not colon. That's something completely different.

If you want to remove the steering wheel yourself, you'll have to make, buy, or borrow/rent a puller. I made mine, it can be viewed on post #8 of this thread.

Making one requires a drill press and a tap.
