Default How to remove the shock absorber

First time working on suspension system. I already moved all the bolts (two lower, one upper), but the shock is still stuck in the mounting point. May I use a jack to compress the shock a little bit to remove it? Or what is the correct way to do it?

Thanks.

if its because its a charged shock and extended, you can compress them with your hands. you may have to tap the stem or base of the shock to break the old bushings free from the mounting points.

Yeah if you got all the bolts out just tap with a rubber mallet or something. It will come free.

And if it doesn't feel free to scream some well chosen expletives.
Always works for me.

It works wonder. Now with new shocks, what a ride, what a ride?

I know I may overreact a little bit. Actually I only replaced the front shock. Afraid of breaking the rusty bolts on the rear, I will leave the rear for shop.
