update
Today I checked if that airbag control module recall has ever been performed on my 99 cherokee. It was done and the control module is relocated. Can any auto electrical guru tell me,
Will a bad airbag control module cause my problem: all gauges quit from time and time and turn on the airbag light?

Not an electrical guru but they don't seem connected when looking at the wiring schematic. Maybe someone else has more info.

Still sounds like a short somewhere to me...just curious...check if your model has a body control module, and let me know. I'm not at the shop right now, so i can't look it up.
