Default i just got a 88 cherokee laredo xj

wow i fell like i got a deal $100 for an 88 jeep cherokee laredo 4 door. the motor is about to blow up, i was knocking pretty loud in the lower end!! now im wanting to rebuild it but not to sure where to get the right parts from?? is it easy to rebuld one??

and i know where to get a 94 4.0 straight 6 with the computer! should i get that?? t runs has an auto trany too, thanks for any help

Either way, you are in for some hard dirty work. If you have access to the newer 4.0 liter HO and it's entire wiring harness and ECU, I would definitely go that route. Were you offered a pretty good deal on the newer HO motor?

If you want to swap the parts get it. lots of work but worth the outcome.

So, drop that 94 motor in and call it a day.

well im hearing that i may have problems with the intake manifold sitting up higher on the 94 than my 88

why would i need the wiring harness from the 94 would the 88 work ??

also that 94 motor with the computer i can get it for 275 i gotta travel 80 miles for it but my old 87s10 will get me there
