How to remove this
http://www.jrfarrar.com/jeep/xj/tomk...ontbumper5.jpg.
Okay so when i was wheeling i ripped my bumper off i am bout to get a new one shortly i am wondering if and how i would remove the center piece between frame rails in order to have my new custom bumper be installed. I hope i can get some help. if i dont need to remove it how will the bracket be bolted on.

If you remove the piece between the frame rails your truck would fall apart. The new bumper you order should have brackets to bolt on to the frame. I hope that helps, unless I am misunderstanding you.

its the crossmemeber. your truck wouldnt "fall apart" but it would tweak the unibody. because thiers nothing holding the "frame" rails apart in the front.

oh no i have already removed the canister haha its in the dump somewhere... what happen was 2 years ago i was wheelin at browns camp and i tore my bumper off due to the fact of no real go tie up for winching. So now i am getting a bumper made and just wanna double check if that center piece had to be there (Which it does) or not. So no i have to tweak it a lil to get straight again before install the bumper.

The vacuum canister controls the vent doors in the heat and air system. Without it yo will only have air coming throught defrost vents. It is also needed fro the cruise control if your XJ is equipped with that option.
