Default How to complete "drive cycle" for emission test

Hi there,

I brought my 99 cherokee I6 4wd, auto for an emission test. My car failed to respond to the test machine, again, after I fixed the dead gauges. The staff told me it is probably my car didn't complete enough "drive cycle" to set the computer ready.

Could anybody chime in and provide more information, thanks a lot.

The computer stores data everytime you start and drive it. Your computer will add those up until there is enough stored data to let the emmisions cumputer know the vehicles history. So several short drives should accomplish that task.

Drive it like suggested for a couple of days and just see. I can't say how much data is required by your states computer. I have seen it be less that 10 times and have heard it be up to 100 times. Each states/counties computer programs may vary. HTH
