It's just a generic reservoir.

Yep, I've watched that. Two major differences: he replaces the radiator with one that has a filler cap, where my radiator is in good shape and works very well, I see no need to replace it. Second, he uses a coolant reservoir from a later model XJ, which I'm sure works fine but there really isn't enough room for it without some other modifications/compromises. The reservoir cruiser54 specs above looks like it will fit very nicely in the original location, though the oem bracket may have to be moved/modified/removed.

NAPA coolant reservoir.

Now just waiting for the Moroso inline filler. After I have that I'll get the cap and reservoir hose. Should be ready for install at that point.

Moroso filler neck, NAPA radiator cap and hose for the two aquired. I think the only thing left is a cap for the vacuum line to the heater control?

Pretty much. Did you get the splice for the hose going to the water pump?

Here's a list of the parts I used.

63745 Moroso neck
730-4514 reservoir
703-1698 cap
11038 heater hose
11039 heater hose

I had the clamps, vacuum cap and splice in my shop.

Assembled parts thus far. If it doesn't say "NAPA" I got the parts at Autozone, except the Moroso part, which I bought on ebay:

HOSES:
Dayco #88429 ($22.99)
Dayco #87792 ($20.99)
Dayco #80400 ($14.99)
5' Gates Hose NAPA #H174 ($6.75)

EDIT: You can save a considerable amount of money on this mod if you use 3’ each of 3/4” and 5/8” heater hose instead of the Dayco, or any other preformed heater hoses. This will also make unecessary the “5/8” Heater Hose Connector #H58” listed below.

Vacuum Caps (2) ($2.69)

Radiator Cap NAPA #7031698 ($4.99)
Coolant Reservoir NAPA #7304514 ($7.99)

5/8" Heater Hose Connector #H58 ($4.99)

Moroso Filler Neck #63745 ($33)

Total including tax: $126.29

I think I still need two hose clamps for the filler neck. That should put me at about $130

I also got a new upper radiator hose to replace while I'm at it. I'm going to install tomorrow morning. Mr Cruiser54, any tips or tricks to mention before I do so?

I'll post photos of the process if anyone is interested.

I trust you will be fine. Find some bushings or such to mount behind the locating/mounting tabs of the recovery tank.

Performed the procedure this morning. Very straightforward. Still have to secure the coolant reservoir.

Before:

After:

Items removed:

In the conversion I went from 14 to 8 pressurized hose connections, and from 13 total parts to 9, not including hose clamps.

Simpler is better

I like the coolant reservoir basket/carrier. I may try to fab up something similar for mine.
