1) agree
2) a stretch
3) maybe
#2 I threw one of those wireless temp house gauges under my hood before my hood vents and it did go higher than 165 degrees idling around town.
However when I put it inside the air box under the filter it would only run about 10 degrees warmer than the outside air going down the road. I think the underhood temp matter less when it's drawing air going down the road from the front of the jeep. In town you might a little cooler air with the vents, but the intake is still getting heated by the header right under it.
I have a cowl cold air intake now, but it's mostly for water crossings, not because I think I'm picking up more hp.

My goal with vents was to try and reduce underhood temps and make all the plastic parts and battery last longer.

Not sure for the US but in the UK the "Orvis" XJ and I think the "60th Anniv" models came with vents from the factory too.

This is one that shows them although it's not great.

Installed these a few months ago. Works great. Unfortunately I cant fry eggs on my hood anymore, but I can live with that! Added some amber LEDs that come on with my fog lights as well...

I am a fan of aesthetics myself, but that might be considered just cosmetics.
Is there an non-cosmetic advantage on this? Meaning, does it overheat and therefore, does this improove the cooling?
I do notice my V6 to throw a lot of heat under the front wheels when I put my foot on the ground...
cheers
