Good to hear someone else in the same boat. I just read a thread about a guy snapping his shock bolts in the rear. He stated he used self tappers to remedy the issue. If the right grade of bolt were used, do you think that it would be sufficient for mounting the hitch? I got mine from local PAP off a 97 grand. It has 4 holes for mounting on each side. IDK!! I want to put this phucker on, but don't want my trailer w/ a quad on it passing me up at 60 mph! Any suggestions are appreciated.

as for the smaller hump, there is a small little tab that you can cut. i dont remember about the bigger hump

I would NEVER use self taping screws into the unibody to hold a hitch. The unibody isnt thick enough to give the bolts a good amount of metal to hold onto. Safety First

The dealer still sells the nut strips. i bought them for my Jeep last year. They were decently cheap from what I remember.

i used carriage bolts the ones with the square thing under the head and got the 1/4" stell plates withe same square hole in them and you slide them in when id did mine when you tighten them it hits the inside of the frame rails you just fish em in to the holes with a magnet pretty good setup

Not trying to sound foolish, but pulling the rear bumper+endcaps would probably cut down on skinned knuckles and profanity? I'm putting my hitch on soon and will take any advice that will make it go like butta!

This is the same way I mounted my hitch when I had one. The PO had a Uhaul hitch installed by Uhaul and they had cut a 2"x2" hole in each framerail so I was able to ditch their crappy hitch and install my Reese Class III by fishing the bolts and steel plates through the holes and zipping them on. No bumper removal needed, but if I had done it myself intitially I would have just pulled the bumper and fished the bolts/plates in that way...
