Hesitant idle after engine install.
Short story: just installed engine back into jeep after a long storage(1.5 years). Now it has a rough or slight hesitation at idle or lower rpms. It might still be there when revving but not as noticeable. It gives a cam or cranks code now and then.
What's I've done:
New head, valves, springs, ect.
Full internal engine inspection including all new bearings and timing gear and chain.
New alternator.
New serpentine belt.
Total cooling system, including both temp sensors.
Intake system cleaned in hot tank.
Throttle body clean along with all attached sensors.
New mopar Cps.
New rear O2 sensor.
New oil pressure sensor ( reading 10% high though)
New spark plugs gapped to spec.
All fluids change, new seals throughout.
More info: It drives nice. Power seems normal. Shifts normal.
Rpm doesn't chug but definitely not consistent.
When I first started the engine it wouldn't fire. I realized I didn't have the dizzy cap aligned with the Tdc of #1. Re installed and fired great and ran ever since. Am I off a tooth???
No vacuum leaks, other than black ball (cruise control?) was previously removed and capped.
Fuel pump seems normal as well as throttle response.
I'm at a lost. Would idle air control cause a weird hesitation? When not at just idle?
Is my timing off? Or more specifically the dizzy off one tooth on camshaft?
The cam position sensor bad?
What is the correct way to time these engines?
Thanks
