Default Heater control valve ?

Hey guys the vacuum to my HCV is not working. I know it is there for a reason, but has anyone removed the HCV. It would be alot easier than tearing up the dash to figure out the vacuum issue. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks Brendan

Go ahead and pull it. I deleted mine years ago (88XJ) without any ill effects - and it was deleted from the factory in later years anyhow.

is that the thing under the hood over by the trans and oil dip that has 2 coolant hoses going to it and a vacuum hose on the other end? if it is mine looks like hell and I would like to take it out also, when I was changing the spark plugs I noticed the vacuum line wasnt even hooked up to it.

trace the line to the vacum canister in the bumper, there might be a break in the line or a hole in the canister (egg).

Hello? I'd still like to know if the HCV is the thing I described above so I can remove it. What is it supposed to do anyway? Sense when the coolant is hot and only turn on the heater then or something? Mine obviously wasnt doing anything since the vacuum line was off of it.
