headlamps: low beams don't work, but high beams do.

headlamps: low beams don't work, but high beams do.
Can someone out there give some direction? Suggestions on troubleshooting would be appreciated. Driving at night requires that I continually pull and hold on to the highbeam switch. Thanks in advance!!
