Just bought this 89 laredo. the guy was selling it because he couldnt get it to start. he put in a new coil, distributor, cap and rotor, spark plugs, and spark plug wires but still couldnt get it to start. I bought it, towed it away and figured out the problem, he had his firing order wrong. so i rewired it and drove it home. now i have a fuel pressure issue. I just replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter but im still not getting anything from my fuel pump. when i turn the key to the ON position it doesnt activate the pump but i have spark when i try to start it. i swapped out the fuel pump regulator with my 87 pioneer which is working fine and that wasnt the problem. so i have one last question, would the fuel pump still turn on if there was no gas in my tank?

sorry for such a long thread but any help is greatly appreciated

when i turn the key on in mine the fuel pump will turn on for a second or to to pressure up the system as for the fuel system why do you not put gas in does the other vechicle have the same distributor if so swap it and see if it starts

i started up the jeep and drove it a long way home, took about almost an hour to get there. so all that is still good, its just that the next day i started it back up again then it died after about a couple minutes. started it back up again then died in about a minute. and the fuel pump wouldnt turn on afterwards. but my gauge still showed a 1/4 tank of gas. now it reads no gas, and no fuel pressure.
