Default Full Width Axle Swaps

What are my options for a full width axle swap? I want to run 37's at first, maybe larger later.

What axles would you guys recommend, and what vehicles should I get them out of? Pros and cons would be very nice.

What frame/unibody re-enforcements would be necessary?

Where could I go about getting some cheap brackets and such for the axles?

I really like the idea of being overbuilt for my tire size...

Any thoughts, information, or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeep450r

I've actually seen a couple of XJs running 39 inch tires with a Ford D44/9 Inch combination from a mid 76-79 F-150. The D44 front in this application is perfect because the front diff. is on the correct (driver's) side and it is high pinion. Not sure about what unibody bracing would need to be done. I would actually like to know that information myself.

Guy in my jeep club had a cherokee running 60's with 39.5 tires. He had front leaf springs on the front though. I will see what I can find out about his mods for it.

im running hp d44 and 9 inch on 37's...i break front axles every once in a while...not really over built for the tire size.

as for the brkts....treksoffroad is prob the easiest to set up correctly and i think one of the cheaper ones. but it doesnt work with some y-links without modification.

i made most of my own brkts and it took forever to make em look good. only brkt i didnt build was my coil buckets.

there are a few companies that build the brkts

I think ive decided on either 60/60 or 60/14bolt. What year and what kind of vehicles should I get these out of?

With a little grinding these will work for almost any axle http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Builde...px?folder=BPBK and you just need a set of leaf spring perches for the rear unless you want to go crazy with the welder and throw in the tj rear coil kit too

14 bolt out of any Chevy 1 ton and many 3/4 ton pickups. Front D60 out of a Ford 1 ton

Don't forget the 1978 and 1979 F250's equipped with the Snow Fighter package... Those have Dana 60's front and rear.

using these axles from the ford or chevy, would 15" wheels work? or would they be in the way of things? ie: brakes, steering knuckles, etc

Don't know about being in the way of things, but the Dana 60s and 14bff are 3/4 and 1 ton axles so to use 15 inch rims you would have to find some with the 8x 6.5 bolt pattern.
