Does anybody have any long term experience with Spectra brand Fuel pump assmeblies?
This fuelpumpwholesale.com place tried to be coy... in the check out process they have a little box checked that allows them to subsitute a different brand part if the one you ordered isn't available. I almost missed it. I unchecked the box and wouldn't you know, the Bosch isn't available. It's kind of like a bait and switch tatic.
Checking rockauto I find that they don't carry the bosch assemblies (probably because bosch doesn't appear to be making them right now) but they do have the Carter, for the same price I was seeing for the Bosch. The Spectra is just over $100.

I put a Spectra brand pump in my 96 F150 back at Christmas, still working fine. I did read that Spectra is one of the OEM suppliers for fuel tanks and I think fuel pumps and radiators for several auto manufacturers.

I put a Carter pump into my '87 Cherokee. It lasted 9 months. It was noisy from the first. I ran the tank to empty one day and that may have killed it but the screen didn't look clogged or anything.
I changed the screen, put a new filter on and I have a Bosch in now. I can hardly hear it when it primes and I can't hear it at all when the Jeep is running. I think I'm sold on Bosch at this point. There was a Bosch in my '87 when I put in the Carter.

uh, no. it almost seems as though the regulator is faulty. As I understand it the regulator is suppose to dump off the extra fuel pressure back into the tank, but instaed of doing that it is releasing the fuel from around another seal somewhere. I'm done fooling with this one. See my other thread about the Bosch 67649 to see the direction I'm going in, since I can't get anyone to sell me a use factory one.
