Default Front speaker

when changing the front speakers in a cherokee (1996) on the door panel do u just pull the vent out or do i have to take out the whole door panel to get to it, i figured id ask before wasting time going one route when its another. (m)

::edit:: after doing the install
so one of my first questions was how am i gonna get this panel off theres no screws or anything, well this is wut holds the panel

the clips are plastic so becareful with em, although they are kinda durable...trust me.

obviously this is the front speaker hole, its set up for a 5 1/4 but i still got a 6.5 in there and yes the holes line up.
the speaker in this next pic on the right is my front speaker which originally my back speaker

door panel. the speaker gill is screwed to panel from inside. You shoulnt have to take it all the way off just till u can lift it about half way. atleast thats how it went in my 91.

x2 It's a pretty easy process. The panel just pulls off, be careful though and make sure to pull as close to the little "Christmas tree" clips as you can to avoid breaking/damaging them too much. I didn't even have to unscrew any of the plastic panels on the door to get at my speaks on my 95, was able to pull enough of the panel back to get in there and do it no problem.

Minuslink, I did mine a couple of weeks ago and used a carpenters small wonder-bar (trim remover tool) and slid it between the interior door panel and the door. There is a little notch in the trim bar on the end (for removing nails) postion the pin in this notch and gently pry up. The panel should pop off.

i used a flat screw driver for mine :P
and as for ur speaker size question.. you can get up to 6.5's in the holes. But 5.25's are stock. I just put in 2 Pioneer 6.5 3 ways in my doors and they work great.
Good luck!

no worries. i just redid my entire sound system about a month ago so i know what ur goin through. I now run an Alpine head unit with two Sony Xplod 6X9's in the back and the two pioneers in the front.
Also, if ur undecided on what brand to get.. i highly recommend Alpine. The only reason i run Sony and Pioneer speakers is kuz i didnt pay a cent for any of em (Sony's were bday presents and the Pioneers were given to me by my buddy who didnt need em anymore)

Good luck.

for the record i did install my own speakers, and yes its easy as (bleep), get rip of those paper cones, but def stick with the 5 1/4 size. my 6.5 stick out and bc the bass is so much the speaker literally bounces off the vent in the door panel.. i had to leave a few clips out to stop the rattling but da jeep sounds nice.
thanks for all the advice.
