Their sales took a nose dive when Walmart stopped carrying most of them. Walmart got nervous about all the engine damage lawsuits it was exposed to and ditched most of the Frams.

Honeywell dumped Fram off to the Rank Group in 2011.

Well everyone as we all know "You Can't Fix ST*%@D!" even with facts.

All the cheap oil change places use Fram filters or one from them without a name on it, because they are cheap by the case lots.

Well stated Fred.

There are others out there, too.
STP etc. These mass merchandisers have filters built to their el cheapo spec, sell em like hotcakes to the unsuspecting public and greedy shops, and don't blink an eye.

Interesting.....both of our Walmarts have Fram filters stacked to the ceiling (way more than the other brands they also sell) and it seems like in most other parts stores (here anyway) Fram filters occupy the most shelf space compared to the other brands.

For our XJ, I like the MotorCraft FL-1A and Walmart sells them for <$4.....that's cheaper than the Frams.

Again, I'm just curious from a sales volume standpoint, how Fram filters rank compared to the other major brands of oil filters.

Walmart near me too. There's always an abundance of fram oil filters and not very many of the others

Just pick up a Fram filter and then pick up any other filter and you can tell which one is the better made one.....

I never had anyone "Advise" me on what filters were better I just took a look at them myself and could tell the fram was made cheap, kinda like a cheap dollar store battery vs a duracell battery you can clearly feel how cheap they are.

People have wised up. They bypass the Frams and buy the others. That's why the Frams sit on the shelf. The TLE stopped using them, at least at mine. My Walmart stocks more Purolator now than any other kind.

They also have some Motorcraft, AC and MOPAR.

Something tells me the largest retailer in the world has a business plan/inventory system that will not let any item "sit on the shelf" very long, otherwise it would be removed from the shelf and replaced with an item that does move/sell quickly. I would also think other stores that sell oil filters operate in a similar fashion......their large Fram filter inventory most likely moves quickly or else the Fram filters would be removed/replaced with a brand that does move quickly.

They might not be able to send them back unless they are defective.

STP filters are actually pretty good filters..................I've seen cutaways.
They are made by Champion Labs, who also make the oil filters for Royal Purple, Mobil-1, Mopar, TRD, VW, and others........................

So I heard to only use the tough guard fram IF you must use a fram. So my question is, without starting the argument all over again, should I finish out the next 3,000 miles on this oil change with my fram or do another change with a better filter soon? Mopar is sold near me so if like to get that one

Part of Walmarts successful business plan is they won't buy/stock anything that the supplier/manufacturer is not willing to take back/warrant, etc.

LOL
If that filter is actually that small I'd love to find one. Even though Fram is quality I like to collect random auto parts junk like that. It'd be cool to have a bunch that size from different manufacturers.
Typo..... I meant Fram isn't, not is lol

You are being fooled if you think anything Walmart stocks is of anything resembling "Quality".
