FORD 8.8 Rear and which front ??
Ive read about 8.8's out of 97 up explorers being used for the XJ's rear.
What swaps in front work besides a 44?
Ive found a 97 explorer AWD, will its front swap in also ?

most leave the Dana 30 you could do a waggy 44 like the great white in the build thread or curry has a 44 that is a direct bolt in but it is a lot of money

The HP Dana 30 found in the front of all XJ's except the '01 is a rather strong axle.. With alloy shaft it can handle up to 35's..

thanks, ive seen some threads on the 4cyl w/manual trans models front ends because they say most came with 4.10's...
Is that going to be a 30 also in those or something different ? Any benefit to it other than lower gearing ?

Basically all Jeeps since the start of the YJ (and CJ's) have the Dana 30 up front. And all XJ, TJ, ZJ front axles are interchangeable.. But the XJ is the only one with the High Pinion. And the HP is the one you want..
