I'm about to change the blower resistance and I was wondering if I need to drain the rad or am I going to have a BIG mess to clean up ?
thanks in advance

if its just the resistor, all that is is an electrical connector to control fan speed correct? that shouldnt have anything to do with draining or leaking fluid...unless im thinking of a different part than what youre changing

yes it is the blower motor resistor to control the fan speed.
I was wondering because in the haynes manual it doesn't specify how to change the resistor, the only time the talk about it is when changing the heater core and for that you have to drain the rad.
so you see my dilema to flush or not
hope it clarifies the situation.
thanks

from what im aware of the resistor is under the pass. side of the dash under the glove box area......shouldnt be too hard to get to, if you can find the location of it that may give a better idea, should have some wires and some bolts to pull out to get to it......ill see if i can find something on an exact location or maybe someone will chime in lol

off the wall, your blower does work on high right? just not on low m1 and m2?

EDIT: I wouldnt drain the fluid lol

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/blo...esistor-10457/

this was on the site too so you may want to ask one of them guys if they know the exact location, should be 2 screws and some wires on the actual resistor tho no fluid interaction

as for the location, no problem, under the dash pass side, small plastic deflector to hide it, remove the plug and two bolts.
Yep it does run only on high even with the connector removed.
I was because the new resistor has a kind of rubber gasket around it, that and what I saw in the haynes manual got me wondering.

O.K. finally changed it today, it's only in the ventilation duct, not in the prestone.
works great
