Not to hijack this thread but does the broken flexplate make a sound like a piston slap time tapping sound? What exactly does it sound like?

ok so a guy from on here said he pulled one out of a 97 and he can sell it to me for $50 shipped

the part number is : 53006324

The flex plate was originally from a 96 ZJ (OBD2). I pulled the motor (and flex plate) and built my stroker. The mounting is exactly the same for all
OBD2 4.0L Jeeps. The windows for the crank sensor are all the same as well.

is this true and will it fit my jeep (1998 Jeep Cherokee SPort 4.0 auto 2wd)

please need help this would make it worth going ahead and doing it instead of driving the jeep into the ground(or junk yard)

i guess it could sound like a bit of piston slap but to me it sounds more like a rod knocking

Yes it's true, I certainly have no reason to sell you a flexplate that won't work on your engine. $50 shipped means $30 in my pocket. I'm not gonna sell my soul for a whopping $50.

I'll retract my offer, hope you find the parts you need.

Done with this.

Just so you will know in the future, if this guy ----> FrankZ tells you something, then chances are it's correct. Very knowledgeable guy, and most here will agree. And he makes sexayyy bumpers!!!

[QUOTE=uplndvpr;691958]ok let me explain,
when i took it to the trans shop they showed me that you can turn the plate about 2-6 inches without turning the crank at all and yes it was still connected to the torque converter

Goodness gracious! He SHOWED YOU he can turn the flexplate 2-6 inches without turning the crank? You saw this???
And this thing runs?
Something sounds impossible here
