Default Few issues with my jeep..heater, door locks, P0700 code...

I have a 97 cherokee im have a few minor issues with. Just got it running again. It had a cracked head. Its running good now though.

First problem. The heater blows great, nice and hot but it only comes out the defrost (top of the dash) This is the 3rd jeep I have owned and they have all done it. Hehe. Its getting a little old. Id like the air to come out of the vents. I replaced the heater unit on the other two jeeps and as far as I know I had all the connections hooked up as well. So just thought Id check on here.

Second is the power door locks do not work. I figured it might be the switch on the driver door but thought I would check here as well.

3rd issue is I got an engine light today so I threw a scanner on it and it came up with the P0700 code....said transmission fault. Thats as much info as I got on that.

If anyone has had this happen and knows the fix and can help me pinpoint it sooner that would be great.

with the door locks, do you dome lights work? If not, check the dome light fuse, that fuse runs the power locks on my 92... might be the same on a 97.

Are your heater vents clear?

gl with the rest.

for the heater it is most likly the vac line that controls the door for the heater.

hey just wondering with the heat.. if you slide it to "heat" and turn the temp to red, then it goes out of the defroster, right? Is that what your doing?

Cuz what makes it come out of the vents is if you put it on "air" or a/c" and slide the temp to red.. kind of misleading just thought id throw that out there

yea the dome lights work when the door/s are open...i havent really had time to check anything yet. As for the heater, it doesnt matter what setting i turn it to, it blowns out of the top of the dash. Only reason I am stumped on that is my 88 cherokee does it, and the 90 cherokee I had did it too.

Guess Ill just pull the heater controls out and make sure all the lines are attached still. Ill go check the fuses first thing. Sometimes you get away with it being that easy. As for the tranny code, i still need to change the fluid. Dont know who had it before me, but its not red like it should be. Its not burnt, but needs a change. Ill see if that engine light comes on again next time I drive it.
