Default Eaton E-locker wont engage

today I put my switch to my locker in the dash instead of having it just hanging there like it was when I bought the jeep, but when I disconnected the wires from the switch and put them back on the locker wont engage anymore, you can hear the motor sound like it's turning on but the locker wont activate. there was some minor problems before with the switch light but the locker always turned on and now all of a sudden it just wont turn on, any thoughts on what could have caused this?

Might be a bad relay.

Test the locker by putting the axle on jack stands and applying 12VDC directly from the battery. Make sure you get the polarity right!

Wait....What? I just reread your post.

There are no motors involved. The e-Locker uses an electromagnet to engage the locker.

Are you sure you don't have an ARB Air locker?

yes I am sure it's not an ARB I have no compresser and there is wires going inside the diff, but I can hear something which a first I thought was a motor but now realize it is just the locker trying to activate. I sort of got it figured out the locker turns on now but the switch is backwards, it turns off when the switch is on and turns on when the switch off.
