The front you can go as much as you pretty much dare to go. In the rear, to avoid problems don't cut past the pinch seem.

Well it will open the wheel well up a little more and prevent your tires from rubbing until it gets further into the wheel well. So, to answer your question, yes.

the pinch seam is on the rear wheel openings. if you feel with your hand where the outer body panel meets up with the inner wheel well panel, they are pinched and welded together there. If you cut up above that point, you will have some flop in the sheet metal and mud and water will fly up into your cargo area behind the plastic trim.

I've found the best way to cut the rear is to cut about 1.5" below the pinch seam then cut slits about 1" apart all the way around and beat the tabs up into the opening. this way you get the opening as much as you can with out getting into the seam, but not mess up the weld.

well, thats a whole different topic. as far as how wide of a tire "can" fit on a 7" wide wheel, i'd say 10.5" wide. thats probably as wide as i'd go to keep from rubbing the control arms too bad too.

Hello Gentleman,

I am a new-bee to this site (signed up today) and humbly ask this question;

I know there are other's that have done this/posted this, but I am having trouble locating the exact theme.

I have (pictures forthcoming) a stock '92 Honda (jus' kidd'n) Cherokee with a Rub 3.5 lift and 32" x 12.5 ProComp mudders'.

I've got lotz-a tools and no brains, so I can cut away with little fear. I just wanna do it right and not re-invent the wheel if possible. I am sure you all know what I mean.

Can anyone help me with photos of how to cut'n clear the correct way..??

I've got immediate plans to switch to Bush-Wack-er's soon after my divorce 'cause my wife didn't know I just spent three-'n-a-half kay on the lift/tires, etc.

I also discovered that my Jeep won't stop. 'Course.......I'm the only one that's discovered that after installing giant tires and jack'n up a perfectly good (but very boring) Cherokee.

Thank you all for any help you may furnish this novice but highly motivated Jeep guy.

Pat

PS. So-sorry if I posted this in the wrong area.............I'm learn'n.

For the front, as mentioned above, just take off the flare and cut as much as you want. For the rear, use the cut and fold method as mentioned above as well as right here: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/cutting-rear-fenders-1718/

I have 10.5" wides in the rear and i have aboput 1/2"-1" of clearance between the sidewall and the leaf. So, yeah x2 on 10.5 is the widest to go on a stock rim.
