Downshift cable??
My 5.9 liter cherokee is coming along niceley but I have run into a problem with the downshift linkage. The 5.9 with the 727 tran used linkage to downshift and that wont work with my new setup. does anyone know of a cable system that would work or were to start looking for one?

I know I need it but the origninal parts used linkage and I was wondering if I could just change to a cable and if so how complicated would it be to set up.

If it all went back into the same vehicle I don't understand why the linkage won't work. Or do you just want to go cable style?

thats the probblem. the engine and tranny are from a full size grand wogoneer and they went into a cherokee. Thats a cherokee with 360 cubic inches of fun and a chrystler 727 trans. I dont recal chrystler putting to many of those in the XJ.
