Default After manifold swap questions

I was reading through the all the late model intake manifold swap info I could find, and found someone had the same issue I do. The belt is super close to thing but crank pulley. Can that nub just be ground down? Mine is not as close as his, I have maybe 1/4" of clearance, but that is just with me feeling how tight the belt should be, and it probably could be a bit tighter but then it get's close to nub, looks almost like some sort of crank trigger o was used for timing on older models or something, this is someone else's pic I stole from the internet.
