Funky Oil Pressure
I just replaced the oil pump on a `97 V8. I replaced it bcuz I was getting odd pressure readings where it was normal when first started, then after awhile it would drop to zero. When I shut off the engine, then cut it back on, the oil pressure would read normal for a bit, then drop back down. After changing the oil pump, I get no reading at all. The only thing I can think of is I didn't prime the pump. But the oil pan is hot. Does that mean the oil is circulating, but the gauge isn't reading it??

The pump should self prime. Likely a guage problem. Did you chech the sending unit? Be careful with this don't drive it unless you are sure your pumping could cost $$$$!

Oh no, don't plan on driving her until I'm sure, but I have no idea where the sending unit is on the V8. I have a hayne manual, but it is not in there either.
