Default disc brake conversion on a ford 8.8 rear end

i just got an 8.8 rear end with a locker but it has drum brakes i was wondering if i could do a disc swapp? it was free so i figured why not just take it.

You can, but measure it. I thought all 8.8's with drums were to narrow. (I might be wrong though)

You should be able to get all the disc brake parts off the 8.8 with them and swap it right on..

naw, its not narrower or shorter, but im talkin about like a kit on the internet i see them for the mustangs, because if i saw one 8.8 explorer on a JY axel i would just pull the axel with discs and erthing..

you are gonna have to do some junk yard hunting to get the back plates. you don't want to get them from the dealer to expensive. your best bet is to find the whole assembly and get it all in one shot so you have cores if you have to get new stuff.

check out some mustang or bronco sites they should have everything you need to do the swap

Can u just swap everything over from a disc 8.8 to a drum 8.8? It will match up with the drum 8.8? Has anyone done this that can comment?

i helped my friend do it on his ranger it will all bolt on but you have to get the backing plates that is the most essential part
