I cant get my NSS off
Hey guys, long story short i rewired my reverse lights with LED fogs that shoot out the back. I have a dirty neutral safety switch because when i switch to reverse the lights go on intermittently. The other day i went to pull the NSS off and i was unable to free it from the side of the transmission. I didnt wanna pry on it too hard because i feared of breaking it. Any tips on getting this thing off?

Go to utube. There's a few really good videos. Watch more than one. I broke kine prying on it. Then saw the videos and thought omg how easy. It's all about leverage and the places to put the screwdrivers.
Really, spray it with PB. Then let it soak and do some research.

I tried all of the tips and it ended up breaking off. You get salt and snow like me in NJ and it makes it tough to get off when things start corroding.

Dont pry on the nss per se. What you want is to take the main nut off almost all the way, then get a long flat hesd screwdriver and start wedging it begind the nss and the trans body. Using a lever motion slowly wiggle it off the main shaft. The piece that holds onto the shaft is plastic and WILL break if you pull on it or hammer it. This is a patience game.
Make sure all other bolts are off lol. Watch that video as stated above and spray with PB blaster for sure!

I've never done one. I gather if you can wedge it out some and deliver a crisp "whack", in, on the shaft that might crack it free. Many posters mention "even pressure"....Guessing here, but it may bind without an even pull..IE looks tough to me to press out on the top of it. It's not rare that with even a good attempt it ends up trash. Getting any pry on 3 and 9 O'clock and getting any "rap" on the shaft, I might try. A link here
