Crankshaft Position Sensor
I am on my 3rd crankshaft position sensor in the last 4 years. The symtoms are the same. Stuttering when I go over a bump and stalling on right hand turns. Diognostic keeps saying it is the sensor but I replaced it this last time one month ago (7-24-10) and it is acting up again. Does anyone have any info on this problem? We are talking about a '98 Cherokee 4.0L. Auto trans

I wish I could help you but so far I have not had or have I ever heard of someone having a problem like this. These sensors aren't cheap either.
When you removed the last sensor did it look damaged, like was it possible that it got hit by moving parts (flywheel)? Was it soaked in oil?
I would draw suspect to the wiring since you say it acts up when you hit a bump or go around corners. I always thought that when this sensor went bad the jeep stopped working all together- the sensor doens't come back to life. Maybe each time you replace the sensor you are moving the wiring harness into a position where it works better, then over time as it gets bumped around from normal driving it finds that spot/bend/connection where it acts up again.
That's my best suggestion, hope you find the trouble.
