Default Crankshaft position sensor

For replacing the crankshaft position sensor on my 98 XJ straight 6 it's connected to the bell housing and down to the trans all I have to do is just unplug it and remove some bolts and put the new on in right?

Yes, should have 2 small bolts that go into the bell housing

Are you sure its bad? Or are you just throwing parts at it to try and get it to start? Do you have spark? And yes, it should have 2 10mm bolts in the bellhousing, dont over tighten it.

Don't install an off-brand cheapie either unless you enjoy changing them. Dealer part, or if that isn't an option NAPA's seems OK.

Yea, just a plug and bolts. Guess you looked at it, no biggie. Hey Chuck, with a yoghourt lid, and a salmon bag have enough power to power my house! (1/2 the time). (the photo waz neerby)

(OP, you are on your back, feet sticking out to the right, right hand holds the ratchet back near the trany cross member.) If you tie a string on the connector of the old, you can haul up the new. You can likely then reach up there with your left to hold/fit guide it)

A lot of times just unplugging it and blowing it out helps the connector is the part that sucks the most on cps
