crank sensor repair?
droped the gear box from my jeep the other day and forgot to disconnect the crank sensor! doh pulled the wires out of it! @~#>*%& the problem is, over here in ireland its 130 euros for a new one nd i'm skint. any way is it possible to repair? i have started to grind away the plastic around the wires so i can solder it back together but the problems is the middle wire pulled out leaving a hole. i have ground down about 5mm but still can't find where the middle wire should go. has anyone been stupid enough to try this before or am i wasting my time? see photo; arrow shows where the wire was. the little black bit to the left of the arrow is just a bit of plastic, thats not where the wire was anyway.
thanks guy

Whats the worst that can happen. Try to fix it and if it works then save money to buy another! You should be able to solder those in. I would try to leave as much material as possible, when you get done fill in the rest with some Hi-Temp Silicone to prevent the water from coming back in. You know if it didn't work when your engine doesn't fire back up, its actually a TDC sensor that tells the computer when the motor is at Top Dead Center for 3 strokes.

****>~#&* just noticed that the sensor i got is a bit different. the sensor looks the exact same except the wires are a bit longer and the block connector is totally different. if i cut the wires and put the old connector onto the new sensor would it work? part numbers are different too. the one off my jeep is 56027963 1077 and the one from the breakers is 56027611 2276. maybe if i just change the numbers no one will notice! Ha Ha

well that sensor i got didn't work! so i just went at the old one from my jeep a bit more with the little grinding tool untill i got enought wire exposed to solder on to. there is no wire in there for the middle wire to join to so i stuck it in the middle of the resin roughly where it came out of. then i covered the whole thing with all weather sealant and stuck it back in the jeep. bingo worked first time. don't know if it will last forever but it'll do for now. had to do all that in the rain and dark. but where the sensor is you can't see it and had to just do it by feeling around.
back on the road. thanks everyone for comments.
