Unhappy Crank but NO start on 93 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl, 4.0L

I have 175k miles on it, owned it for 6 months.

car used to stall randomly, engine wold just go dead, electrical would still be on. i read around, lots of people said it has to do with PCM unit.

I disconnected it dusted it off, looked at it long and intensely...put it back in...now car wont start, it has no spark (EDIT no spark at ignition coil).

it has a new crankshaft positioning sensor, connector to camshaft sensor reads 5V between orange and yellow wire, ignition coil tests within specs with ohmmeter and fuel injector connectors read 7.32V between one of the connector leads and battery ground (shouldnt it read battery voltage? 12V?) with key ON.

i went to junk yard, yanked another PCM from a 93 sport cherokee with same number on it...no difference still no spark/start. (PCM on this car model is by the air filter)

guys...please help me out...this car is in good condition, engine used to run great...i have no idea how to roubleshoot this and no money in the wallet to fix it or buy another car...

i appreciate all the help.

You replaced the CPS. This would be the connector at the back of the Valve Cover on the drivers side that connects to the bell housing. If so and this didnt fix it. Did you check the opposite connector that is on the main Engine harness. Your problem sounds so much like CPS.

hmmm wait I just seen that you are getting NO Spark, have you replaced the cap and rotors, the wires???

you mean to ask if i changed the connector where the crankshaft pos. sensor connects to?

i didnt change it, good point, what voltage should i read there with the ignition ON? im sure there must be a test for it.

i had replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires as well. distributor cap is changed as well.

now about the rotors, im not sure which rotors you are referring to. pls explain.

thanks a bunch for input

EDIT: i edited in main post, i get no spark at ignition coil either, even though the ignition coil tests OK.

It sounds like a crank sensor issue to me as well. Retest your crank sensor and double check the connector. I believe you also have a pick up plate in the distributor on your Jeep. That is the next place I would look.

My jeep shut off last night and had no spark out of the coil. I had 2 plugs, one with one wire, another with 3 wires that plugged into coil. I had power on only one wire with switch on. I read somewhere where that if you shake the cps wire it will get you home, sometimes. Well it worked for me, I shook the wires to the cps and pulled on them good and it started right up. Now I gotta change the cps.

Shouldn't have been so intense.
