fuel pump fuse blowing: found source, what now?
the 30a maxi fuse under the hood kept blowing every time i cranked the engine. i started testing with the fuel pump. i unplugged the connecter with a fresh fuse in place, turn key to crank and checked the fuse- intact.
now i plugged the connector back in and cranked the engine again, fuse blown. and for some reason the a/c engages and the electric fan comes on....
anywho, now that i know the problem is related to the fuel pump, what do i do next? ? does this call for a new pump? bad ground? i know the ground wire that attaches to the pump looks pretty rusted.
my pump also looks different than the one ive seen online. mine has a single out put house and 5 wires that attach in 2 places, and then the ground. most pics ive seen show 2 wires going to the pump and 2 hoses. any idea on that one?
i think im gonna look around for a fuel tank with a pump anyway, since i have a hole in my tank
thanks for any help

i also wanna mention that ever since i bought this jeep (about 4 months ago) the pump has always been loud, kind of a loud buzz. is that the sign that the pump is going?

Unplug the pump and try it. If the fuse doesn't blow..........

My gas gauge has been avting weird for the last few weeks too, i wonder if its connecyed to this problem. It seemed like it would only read more than a half tank, if it dropped under, the needle would bounce all over the place and eventually just sit right at empty

i had the same problem with my 93 xj. kept blowing the fuse. do not buy the airtek fuel pump from autozone or anywhere. its junk and was the culprit in my case. and yes the pump gets very loud and gets hot and thats what makes th fuse blow.
