Default Correct brake caliper bolts?

Yesterday when I had the front axles out to change the u-joints, I noticed my brake caliper bolts were regular 13mm bolts. The write-up on here mentioned allen head bolts.

I noticed that there were what appeared to be helicoils installed in the hanger.

Is that normal, or did someone have to repair my setup at some point? I had a hard time putting one of the four bolts back in and though it's tight, I dont' see it holding up for many more in/out trips.

make sure youre removing the caliper bolt int he little rubber grommet and not the brake caliper housing bolts.. I beleive those are 13mm and loc tighted in.. they would be HARD to get out and shouldnt need to be taken off. The brake caliper bolt should be very long and different looking .. not your standard bolt.

Yeah, those were the ones I removed (the ones with the rubber adjustible bellows.) I had both calipers off for yesterday's fun and exciting ujoint exchange.

It depends on the year of the Jeep....

The axle shown in the U-joint write-up is from an 89.. so it still has the 7mm allen head bolts. But newer models thankfully got 13mm regular hex heads on their bolts.
